PUCMAN WORLDS MAP EDITOR V1.4 BY PETRI HÄKKINEN
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Introduction
------------
With this little utility you can easily modify maps for
Pucman Worlds. The editor is made so easy to use as possible
so everybody could use it. Some instructions are
included in this little documentation thought. Enjoy!
How does it work?
-----------------
If you take a look in Pucman Worlds disc, you'll find
several files ending with '.PM'. Those are the map files.
You can modify these already made maps OR made maps
of your own. But you have to overwrite these '.PM' maps
or they won't appear in the game. Unfortunately
you can't modify the actual amount of ghost or their
statics but still the map making can be great fun!
You should take a work copy of Pucman Worlds if you
still want to play the original levels.
The Editor
----------
When you run the map editor, you'll notice a line
of icons near the bottom of screen. With left mouse
button you can choose these icons as brushes and paint
maps with them. You can scroll the icon bar with DEL and
HELP keys and the map with arrow keys.
With right mouse button you can enter the menu if you click
it on the icon bar. In map area the right button will
remove icons.
The editor menu is completely mouse-driven and it should
look like this...
New World
Load Dino
Save Medieval
Quit Space
New - Erases current map. A requester will appear asking
permission for this.
Load - Will load a map from Pucman Worlds.
Save - Saves a new map to Pucman Worlds.
Quit - Quits the editor. Again a requester will appear.
Worlds - This isn't actually an icon... It is there to
give some guidance... Check the editor.
Dino/Medieval/Space
- With these icons you can choose the world under editing.
The world's graphics will be loaded into memory after
clicking on these icons.
Some hints on map drawing
-------------------------
When you have finished your map, you should check for
deadends. The ghosts are so stupid that they don't understand
to turn back. So they'll all search the nearest deadend and
remain there until the Puc has collected all the pills.
You can't change the starting place of Puc so you should also
pay attention to that point when designing new levels.
That should be enough for this time... But wait there's more:
